Driving Instructor (ADI) Training
Wirral Driving Ltd provides full courses of driving instructor training to help you qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor. |
To be considered for training to be an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) you have to meet the following minimum standards:
- You must hold a full UK or EU Licence for 4 out of the last 6 years
- Not to have been disqualified from driving at any time in the last 4 years
- To be a fit and proper person, you will need to complete a CRB check and have no more than 6 points on your licence, (3 would not normally be acceptable however more than this will be looked at by the DSA)
- Be able to read a number plate at 27.5 metres (with spectacles if worn)

There is a three stage qualification process to becoming an ADI:

ADI TRAINING WITH WIRRAL DRIVING LTD
We feel it is best to make arrangements to meet in order to have an open and frank discussion about becoming an ADI.
This would involve discussing the regulations to become a driving instructor, a driving licence check, an eyesight check and an opportunity to view our training programme and materials.

The ADI qualification process is in 3 parts, below is a breakdown of the costs to train at each stage. If you would prefer to pay in full, the cost would be £2400
Part 1 - Theory and Hazard Perception
You will be provided with a home study programme and six hours of practical in car training; you will receive a Study Guide, nine books, and a Hazard Perception DVD.
Cost: £495
Part 2 - Driving Ability Test
You will receive a workbook packed full of information and exercises to help you prepare and ten hours of practical in car training.
Cost: £450
Part 3 - Test of Instructional Ability
You will receive an instructing workbook, packed full of information and exercises to help you prepare and a copy of the complete ADI teaching system, which contains all the lesson plans, diagrams and briefing you will need. You will complete 40 hours of practical in car training. This training is ‘pay as you go’ 4 x £400.

Total cost including all training materials: £2545

'TRY BEFORE YOU BUY' WITH A SUITABILITY ASSESSMENT
This would be a 2 hour session where you would be given a taste of each of the DSA tests required to become an ADI.
Part 1
You will be given a copy of ‘Driving Essential skills’ and asked to read a section. You will then answer a short multi choice question theory test.
Part 2
You will be invited to demonstrate your driving alongside our ADI trainer who will assess your current standard on a short but varied route. You will then be given a demonstration drive by your trainer.
Part 3
This will be your opportunity to try out being a driving instructor, your trainer will play the role of your student and you will be asked to talk him through a moving off exercise.
The cost for the two hour experience is £50, which will be deducted from your training fees if you decide to train with Wirral Driving Ltd
